Returning from Europe

Posted in Carbon, Renewables by timnelson on April 14, 2008

Hello blog world. We are safe and sound back in Australia following our European emissions trading trip. We learned an enormous amount from European businesses and regulators about how the scheme developed and other climate change policies that are in place. One of the key learnings was around the 20% renewable energy target proposed by the EU for 2020. This is an energy target, not an electricity target. As such, 20% of all energy consumed will need to come from renewable sources by 2020 if the EU proposal is adopted – this is a significant challenge.
